If it is really fixed the light will go out by itself after a few drive cycles.

Its my 08 F350 6.4 Stroke ran rough in the morning no power barely got to the speed limit.shut it started again ran great went to work after work nothing. It starts runs for 20 seconds then quits when it runs it sounds real bad .It smells of raw feul as well. I checked the feul switch and the EGR Valve .Went on the hook 50miles away to dealer. Ya know i bought another ford cause i want to have a truck not a car with a diesel in it. But this is B.S . You pay big dollars for these vehicals and they last 1/2 year ! I have 1978 ford f 250 429 cj used regularly kept serviced runs great for 20 times as long . DON'T make excuses for the new trucks or thier so called technology what the hell! Maybe i should settle down but i'm P.Oed and i want everyone to know I think we're puppets gettin played.

Excellent idea, if you want help.

Doesn't sound nearly as serious as you make it sound. (grenade?) Let's give the shop a chance to work their magic.

The only thing that I remember about a Statistics course that I took in college was that a "standard deviation" > 5% (+/-) is considered significant. As it relates to gas or diesel engines, if 5% or more have the same mechanical failure, then it should be considered a design flaw. Now, anyone who has done their homework knows that Ford's diesel engines (6.4L and 6.0L) have a known history of specific mechanical failures that affect more than 5% of these diesel engines.

Can I proof this empirically... no. However, what I can deduct from the numerous threads on this forum is that the 6.4L and 6.0L diesel engines do have issues and there is no justification for expressing dissatisfaction with these engines. The 5.4L and 6.8L gas engines may not have the "potential" performance (HP/TQ) of the diesel engines but they are very reliable... and at the end of the day, the only thing that matters is what your engine "will do" as opposed to what it potentially "can do."

In short, those of you who have a reliable 6.4L or 6.0L diesel engine should be pleasantly surprised... those of you who do not have a reliable 6.4L or 6.0L diesel engine should not be surprised at all.

Let the games begin!

Ha! Don't get me wrong... Ford should be producing reliable diesel engines. I had a conversation with my family recently and I made the comment that our greatest power (influence) over what is occurring in the USA (politically, economically, and spiritually) is how we spend our time and money.

For example, it you want to influence what is on TV, only watch those channels that offer the quality of programming that you desire. How many times do people say, "That TV show was a waste of my time!" My question is "why" did you watch it in the first place? The advertisers cannot and will not support a TV show that no one is watching. As for the market place, if you see that a company is providing a poor quality product or service, don't buy it. This concept is what drives competition and ultimately provides quality to the consumer.

With the new Scorpion diesel engine about to be introduced, consumers would be smart to completely stop purchasing it if it is determined to be unreliable. Send Ford back to the drawing board if they didn't get it right the first time. In a competitive economy, how you spend your time and money is your greatest weapon!

There are quite a few problems with just coming to a conclusion of something based on threads in these forums. Those problems can skew one's results and you might come to a different conclusion(maybe not, but there is enough issues that it's a big maybe that you will).

Um...this doesn't make sense.

You go so far as to state facts about statistics. Then you go and declare both engines unreliable, as you are SURE that more than 5% of these engines have faults.

And then you say that you can't prove it!
