Carburetor leaking

Smelled some fuel tonight, lifted hood and noticed a wet spot on the intake. I traced it to the passenger side of my carb seems to be leaking out of the throttle shaft on that side under the choke. I have a 1970 F100 2WD with a Automatic Transmission all powered by a stock 302... The carb is a Motorcraft 2100 - D2TF-CA..

Does anyone know what rebuild kit would have the shaft seals in it or should I just get a new intake and 4bbl ?

thank you.

There are no seals. the rod just runs through the throttle body holes. They wear out sometimes. A good carb shop can put bushings in there to stop the leak. Or go see Mr. Edelbrock for the new 4v stuff.

Thank you for the info.. I had figured as much..
I have found some 2100's a little bigger than the 1.08 I have for around $175.00.. I have a Holley 4160 that has been sitting in my garage for 4 years since I removed it from an old Jeep.. Guess it may be cheaper and make more sense to rebuild it then buy a new intake for a 4v carb..

Thanks again for all the info.. It's always something..

What?? It's not supposed to smell like gas all the time! My truck constantly smells.
And there is not leaks on the carb.

I've alway been told that these stock 302s run like crap with a 4 bbl on them.

They only run like crap if you put the wrong 4v carb on them. Like over 600 cfm on a more or less stock 302.

Well my 4160 is a 600cfm. If I place the stiffest spring in the secondary vacuum assembly I am sure it will be running on the primarys unless I floor it. so the effective cfm should be comparable to the available stock 2100's offered for the 302. All my 302 has on it is headers into two glass packs and the intake is an open filter type.

I am not going to dump a few hundred dollars into a 2bbl when a 4bbl is what I will put on it after the rebuild anyhow..

Yes, I always smell fuel also but this was strong and a puddle was on intake and continues to pool there when I drive her..

Most fuel smells in the cab can be attributed to the hose or fittings that lead from the tank behind the seat to the outside and the gas cap. New hose and fittings.....Viola...Ready for 40 more good years!!!

I only get in cab fuel smells when I fill up. I have replaced all lines a few months ago.. I do agree with the recommendation to replace them. I also put a 'vent' line to the bed through the floor.

I replaced them about 4 yrs ago.. Helped some but it still smells. Especially after topping off the tank.
But while working on it some tonight I did give all the clamps an extra turn just for good measure.
