So, whats the recommendation on using a tuner and towing..
I see Spartan suggests not tuning while towing, others say a little is ok..
and what level of towing are we talking about? my first set of tows will be with a measly 7000lb bumper pull enclosed car carrier. later (next year) we will swap over to gooseneck.
I don't know about Superchips but with these trucks it is important to have the tranny tuned as well as the motor. If not you will have issues.
I have an Edge variant from PHP that I use for Gauges. I did put the chip on 4 to see the difference and the mileage was vastly improved but the tranny shifted funny so I put it back to Stock.
The only two I know have tranny tunes are Spartan and Banks. Banks takes over the duties of the PCM by inserting itself in the middle while Spartan reflashes everything including the tranny tunes. If Superchips does not tune the tranny as well you may want to think twice. I actually would wait until you can affort Spartan's since it seems to be the most liked.
I am with you on the DPF. Once I get to 70,000 on my truck I am removing it but leaving the truck on a stock performance level. I was fine going up and down the pass on the stock level this weekend until the Regen hit. What a pain in the behind if you know what I mean. 35 mph up the pass and redlining tranny temps because of lack of power.

I agree on the tranny settings.. most I liked about the edge on my F150. Superchips also programs the tranny.
my service writer gave a print out the last time i had my truck in for work and it mentioned that any aftermarket performance part you put on the truck, if something in line with that part fails Ford is not reponsible?
I never had any trouble with my last 05 with a magnaflow exhaust.. have they gotten strickter with the 6.4s?

I think i did, if putting tuners on trucks for towing or performance while your new truck is still under Ford warranty.
Do you still have your truck in warranty Sam? or is it out? mine still is and not sure if they have gotten more strick pertaining to tuners, they (My Ford store) wasnt to worried about upgrades for performance but i found a sheet in my truck talking about warranty voids from ford concerning any performance upgrades.
Thanks Matt and I saw that with my local dealer on my 6.0 liter. They went from being fine with mods to not within a week. My buddy got his headgaskets done the week before and they were fine with his set up and then I went in the following week and bam... no warranty.
