I need to know all about the inner workings of the horn on these trucks. When i hit the switch for the horn I can hear a click that sounds like its somewhere in the engine bay. I really need to get this fixed since its illegal to not have a working horn. Maybe i should just forget about this horn and put some train horns on it.
The click you hear is the horn relay, so that is working. Is the wire on the horn? If it is take a wire and fasten to the positive battery post, then touch the other end to the post on the horn. It should sound, if not the horn needs to be replaced.
ditto, mine did the same thng not long ago... mine was a bad horn. got a new one from harborfreight and it works great. i know on the 87 its a bear to get to it. i had to pull the grill and drivers headlight to make it half way reasonable to get to. but i kow there were a few changes from 87 to 93 so maybe they made yours a little easier to get to.

I sure hope they relocated it. Ive looked all over hell and i cant even find the horn.
Id sure like to have a set of train horns, but they seem to always be sooo damn expensive. Maybe ill get a set of air horns off a semi.
My horn hasn't worked for years lol, doesn't click or make any sound at all. Just roll down your window and shout really loud! I have a license plates in my rear window, "Horn don't work, watch for finger" that sure is true lol
hey john, mine WAS able to be seen from under the front drivers side infront on the tire just behind the bumper... now its below and beside the battery. easy access

Thanks, I looked around a little bit today along where you said it was in an earlier post. Ill crawl under it tomorrow and see if i cant see it.
My horn never worked ether, I found a set of horns on a truck at a junkyard, got them free. I had some brass fittings, some hose, 20 ft of compressor hose and a 5 gal airtank.
All I was missing was the air solinoid. I ended up finding a bunch of those in my garage and ended up putting my airhorn system together for free. Im in the process of putting together a compressor and mounting the tank under the truck, as of now I have to refill the air tank when it empties. On top of that I was bored and wired the solinoid into the stock horn wiring so I can control the horn using my steering wheel.
Oh the things you can accomplish when your trying to put off more important work!
