Beside my pipes are black even before reflashing. Not long after reflashing I had to have my (2008 F250, now has 20000 miles) turbo cooler replaced and the regen act different. It never regens in park and if I'm having to cruise due to traffic or speed limit the Idle does not increase. Ex If I let off the pedal under 50 mph the tach drops to 750 not any high, I thought it was to be at 1500 or 2000 rpm. Also the mileage would drop when it would go into the cycle but now the mileage stays the same and sometimes get better milage.
nothing is wrong. your pcm was updated to a new progam. Orginally you would only see the cleaning exhaust filter message briefly and then after the update you should be able to see if continuasly now
Not on all applications. My 08 has the latest flash for it and it only flashes for a second and the only way to see if it is in regen is to flip through the system windows on the display. Otherwise black pipes means your dpf is bad. The dpf is so good it will catch everything.
rock doctor, your display should read cleaning exhaust filter during the entire regen. If yours does not then part of the reflash did not take. When did you have it done? Ford released the flash, then suspended it due to problems with some trucks not accepting it, then released it again after they got it fixed. There was also an issue with the way some dealers were downloading the flash from Ford. Bottom line, it sounds like your truck doesnt have the complete flash and the dealer should have no problem at all doing it again so that it takes.
Good point Caprang, I had the same issue. Thought I had the newest flash and it did not take. Had to do it three times.
Problem is, many dealerships are under the mistaken idea that their IDS will update automatically (it doesn't). The only automatic updates are patches. You have to manually go to the professional technician society in the fmcdealer site, and download the updates. If you don't, you wont have the "latest and greatest" reflashes.

The flash was done by the selling dealer. The truck is running fine and does not regen while in park, so i suspect it is updated or at least enough took for it to work ok. My problem is, i really do not have a dealer that i trust with the truck and the selling dealer is 300 miles away. So i will have to leave it as is for now. I am sure there will be a recall at some point that it will have to go in for.... Thanks for the response, i appreciate it.

You can't really look at the dpf and see a crack. It is all internal. You really should not see soot and the dealer should not send you on your way if they do then try another dealer.
