Tach problems

This has been bothering me since the day I bought the truck. The tach at first when i bought it worked fine but would feather every so often. Now it will either register fine or most of the time it will register but just very low like it will show 1000rpm @75mph. Any thoughts?

tach sender in the ip cover with 2 wires comming out. ford only part about 70 or try your luck at a junkyard. i have the same problem right now but it only reads a little low.

mine ran me about $80 i wish i would have saved my old one i could have sent it to you it was fine but i replaced it trying to find my tranny problem

E5TZ-17B384-A is the part number i got mine from http://www.forddirectonline.com/ it was $62 to the door. its kind of a pain to look up online best thing to do is call them
