I have seen 5th wheels in 150's like mine before just wanted some info from guys that have them. I'm asking because my daughters friend's parents have a goose neck trailer f/s very little use and i'm thinking about buying it.
well about your body lift. i've never seen a truck with a body lift have goose neck or fithwheel
main reason is that on both setup a plate in bolted under the bed on the frame and a top part is bolted on top of the bed or a hole cut for a gooseneck ball
I pull a 26' 5th wheel and don't have any issues. The truck is pulling about 8000lbs loaded.(5er, wood, people, ETC..) My old 2000 f150 pulled it, but the new truck does it better.
Any pic's ? would like to see it. There is no dought that our trucks can do it. I pull a 30 ft tow hauler with my truck off the hitch... And i no it's back there when i have both big wheelers in it. and the wood and the generator and the water and the fuel... 8k easy
If your bed is 6' or shorter you will need a Super Glide fifth wheel hitch, you better have deep pockets because they don't give them away. I have a 2004 screw with a 5.4 and a 5.5' bed, I had a fifth wheel camper given to me, I have no doubt it will haul the 32' camper, but I cant afford the $5000 hitch. Hitch is pretty slick but holy *****, make it affordable.
This is my wife truck that she pulls her horses with. It will pull up to about 7000lbs fine but if you get close/over 8000lbs it will start struggling on hills. It will pull it, it just makes you cringe to hear her screamin at 3500rpms all the way up a hill. It also has an electric brake controller which helps ALOT. Shes pulled 7000lbs all over the place with no ploblem at all except it will suck down the gas with 8000lbs back there. By the way it is an 07 w/ 5.4 stock except for a superchips tuner.

Does the person in question not have a gooseneck trailer instead of a fifth wheel.
Very different, and a gooseneck ball is fairly cheap.
A friend tows his gooseneck trailer extensivly with his Dodge half ton and it tows very well.
I realize its not a Ford but if any thing I would asume a Ford would pull it better than a Dodge half ton.
I think i'm going to go ahead and get the hitch. I have a chance to buy a goose neck trailer at a good price.

How much does the trailer alone weigh?
Then consider the load you will carry in it.
If the combination weight is not to high then it should work good, better than a bumper pull kind.

I don't have any pics right now. The truck rides just about level and I have about 5" between the bed and camper. I would in vest in a good electirc brake controller. When I got the new truck and bought a new Prodigy brake controller ($110.00 at camping world) and even the wife can tell the differents in braking compared to the old controller. The truck is not being pushed when coming to a stop.
