catalyc converter

I have a 2000 2 wheel drive v10 f250 superduty. i would like to know if i by-pass my catalyc converter would it hurt my trucks performance or improve. I have about 190,000 miles.

I'd replace it with an aftermarket universal converter if your states emission laws allow it. With almost 10 years and 190k on the converter its no spring chicken and probably loaded up some.

My question is...Why do you want to by-pass the converter?

The converter on the V10 is so big, it's no hindrance to flow. Sound-wise, some say it leaves something to be desired

well ive just heard that it would run better. dont get me wrong the truck runs great I stay on top of the maitenance. I did put a flowmaster (one entrance two exits) and it gave it a good sound. By removing the cat im not looking to improve sound but performance. however i know that it could hurt because of my before and after O2 sensors.
