are the hoods on the f150 and the expedition the same size? i know the suspension and front frame are, i am just not sure about the fit. i know that the front grill would have to be cut out of the expedition, as there is one on the f150 's. the reason i ask is because i think the way the f150 grills is just that much cooler than that of the expy. and it would be a really cool mod to have.
most likely really expensive.
does anyone know if it has been done befor?
and or do you think its a cool idea?
On my 99 last year I hit a buffalo in my expy and had to replace the right front fender, turn signal lens, grill surround and grill. The grill surround and grill that I replace it with I got from a junk yard off an F150 so I know those parts are interchangeable. However it seems to me you couldn't use a F150 surround with an expy grill and visa versa. I too like the looks of the F150 grills better, thats why I tried it to see if it would work v.s. trying to find one off an expy. I believe the hoods from a F150 would also work on the expy by looking at some of the ones listed on ebay it looks as though they'll work on both as shown in this example. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/97-98...ht_2477wt_1167
The Expy went to the new body style in 2003 and the F150 in 2004. I don't believe you'd be able to take off the Expy hood and grill and install the F150 hood with grill attached. However, I do believe you can/would have to swap the whole front clip (everything forward of the firewall).
i know it would fit. it looks good on the f150's. i am just skeptical on how it would look on the expedition. i dont want to buy one to find out i dont like it. wish someone locally had it in stock.
thanks for the input everyone.
if i have to replace the whole front clip i don't think it would be worth it. im thinking iu should just reinforce the engine cage and go with fiberglass pieces eventually. that is if the f150 parts don't fit. i like that whole Baja look.
