should have just called diesel innovations and bought their 35$ intank kit. comes with everything needed to do that setup.
The DI kit doesn't come with the extension for the return. I used their kit several years ago when did mine. I cut the "U" shaped hose and left it more sideways. I still have the stock foot with screen and nibs at the bottom. I haven't had any problems with it that way.
Unless they changed up their kit, it didn't have it before. Only tubing in the kit was for the pickup tube extension to replace the mixing chamber. What you see in the picture is what I got.
well ****tt, can I cut the peice of tubing like you did and add a peice of ss brake line and a tiny hose clamp to move the return even further away from the pickup?
I wish i could afford it and spend 165$ on a sump and delete these problems.

That, or get a 5/16'' brass compression fitting, remove the hose, and attach it to the 90* bend in the line like ITP does theirs. http://www.itpdiesel.com/store.php/products/73L_TankKit This would be a more stable mounting for the line.

That's what I did.
From my earlier post "I used that same 90° elbow turned paralell to the bottom of the tank and added a piece of SS brake line to route it toward the front of the tank."
I finally finished up. Boy was that fun. I took all your suggestions and basically did it the same as Guzzle page.
Things I notice now:
1. Fuel pump does not sound like it has air in the lines when you turn on the key anymore.
2. The engine is a little quieter and smoother.
3. Seems to start a little faster.

Sounds good.
this might have been stated before but is there an advantage or disadvantage to routing to front of tank or too rear of tank?

My thinking in extending the fuel return toward the front was so the inertia of turning would not have it moving back and forth as much as opposed to routing it toward the back. JMO and probably not worth worrying about.
Grant,
Glad you have it all done and see improvement. Good job.

When I bought it back in Jan. of this year, it didn't come with any extension for the return line. I didn't do anything about extending the return line though.
