I have a problem with axle wrap and I've been searching for a set up I could build, ladder bars, traction bars or something but i cant find any kind of design that doesn't look to limit articulation. I have stock f150 springs shackle flipped with a 2 inch block. I dont think removing that block with help much. I'm thinkin of making ladder bars that mount to the sway bar mounts on my d60, then using a hiem joint with a shackle on the upper end. Now I'm not sure how long I would need to make them, shackle lenth or angle to make them work properly. Any other ideas are welcome too, I just gotta get rid of the hoping when the rear tires get spinning. Thanks
What condition are your shocks in? Changing shocks and even changing the angle in which they operate can change axle hop characteristics a bunch.
Ultimately you will want a bar that will still allow the axle to function in a normal arch without binding. Following the angle of the driveshaft is a fair place to start.
You're on the right track. A shackle on the end of traction bars will prevent binding and help articulation. It looks like you prefer mudding over rock crawling, so axle travel won't be too important.
Some have attempted an adjustable lower link, using a lh/rh threaded link, which allows adjustment of the tension on the shackle. The suspension can be "preloaded", (makes good burnouts) or allowed extra play with the shackle to help hook the tires for drag racing.
My shocks are in good condition and only about 6 months old. Where would I relocate the shocks from stock location to help?
I guess I really dont prefer mud over anything. Its just the easiest way to get my truck out on the weekends. I like the trails. The wheel hop doesn't happen in the mud. Its when I'm climbing hills. They are the main attraction at one of the spots I wheel, some of them get kinda crazy with logs and rocks and once the tires break loose I get bouncin pretty good. Thats gotta stop or at least get a handle on it.
I would like some other ideas too. I'm not really big on the ladder bar idea
PGTerror:
How long are your old leafs? Wanna get rid of them?
They are about 2yrs old, they are also full on deavers for a 6 inch lift in excellent condition, bought them for 750 bucks. Asking $300, PNN. doesn't include shipping and handling.
Can you take a spring eye to spring eye measurement for me please?
I wont have you ship them, I dont live very far from you and have to pick up some parts from BOTP off of the 91 and 55 in a couple of days.
I dont have an F150 but might be able to use the leafs if the dimensions are close.
Just looking for the center line to center line dimension.
