1990 E250 fuel issue
I have no power to the two leads that attach to the top of the front tank with the key on.
I can't see enough of the motor to tell if it has been converted to electric fuel pumps or if the plug on top of the tanks is just for the gas guage sender. Does it use a manual pump attached to the motor as well as in tank pumps? Remember mine was made in May of 85 and is the 9800 lb cargo van with a 351 motor.
I bought a new in tank fuel pump off ebay but have not dropped the tanks yet.
Is anyone familiar enough the the 86 Cargo Master conversion to help me figure out what is wrong? Truck will start with starting fluid nothing without out it.
Is this relayy I found the fuel relay? Where is it supposed to be located on the 86? Does the 86 have the fuel cut off switch? Auto Zone has no info on it. Looked at a Haynes manual but it was no help.
Can someone help me out? Thanks, Scott
Do you know if it has the fuel cut off switch on the pass kick panel?
I had started to drop the tanks and snapped the strap so I ordered new ones. That would explain why I had no voltage at the top of the tank if they are only guages.
Does it use a fuel relay and if so where would it be located?
I am not even sure where to start on this. I fear I have wasted money already buying an electric pump for the gas tank.
Where do I begin? It has a front tank and a rear tank the rear tank never worked. Only ran on the front tank. Now does not run at all. Used to be you had to put fuelo in the carb just to get it to start and then it would run. Now it does not run past the point of burning up the starting fluid.
If I have to replace the fuel pump are you sure it has a manual pump? It is a large converted cargo van with a tank switcher.
Thanks
Thanks
No I am not 100% sure but all I can tell you is my 1985 351 E-series has a fuel pump mounted on the engine, a three port fuel selector solenoid valve mounted on the frame, and two fuel tanks. It has no fuel relay or power relay.
Can you post or email me a photo of the relay that you see?
It has no Inertia fuel shutoff (cutoff) relay mounted in the kick panel.
Some of the 460 engines had in the tank electric fuel pumps from about 1982 to 1987 that had the hot fuel bypass. They also had a motor driven fuel selector valve mounted on the frame and four wires to the top of each tank at the plug. Some only had three wires going to the tank. But none of them had two wires at the tank. With the hot fuel bypass you also had a return fuel line from a "T" in front of the Carb that went back to the fuel tank by way of the six port selector valve.
What do you mean by "with a tank switcher"?
Are you talking about the selector switch at the dash or the three port solenoid valve mounted on the frame?
