Problems with mounting 6 cd changer vertically

I'm wanting to build a center console, and relocate the factory stereo vertically in it so it's at easy reach for me. I'll probably replace the whole with cb radio, etc. Will the 6 cd changer still work mounted vertically? or at a slight 45 degree angle?

I know I can buy an aftermarket with a remote but I don't want to worry about theft issues.

thanks for any help/advice you can give.

Thats a good question...There is an awful lot that mechanically takes place in these cd players, and especially the 6 cd unit.I suspect it might work for awhile, but over time probably will give problems. Wish I could tell you definatively, but its a crap shoot, and I wouldnt want to have any of my favorite CDs in it when it decides to "Go South" at that point Im not sure you would be able to retrieve them without complete destruction of the radio, and probable destruction of the CD,s

I was thinking the same thing about the mechanics about it. I just don't like hugging the dash in case of a wreck, but at the same time it's a pain to contantly have to lean forward to hit the radio controls. I thought about a steering wheel with radio controls but I don't believe there's a model that comes without the AC controls.

What to do, what to do.

At one time all the changers (including "autobranded") on the market had an adjustment screw on the side or bottom-sometimes hidden from plain view.

The adjustment screw was to allow you to mount the changer in which-ever angle you choose.

Since its been about a year or so since I last installed or serviced one, I couldn't tell you where to start searching.

I had an aftermarket CD player in my 07(professionally installed by the Previous owner) and bought an OEM 6 disc AM/FM radio on ebay that came out of an 07 XLT..My truck is an XL(NO FRILLS)...anyway the radio works great, and the wife and I took a road trip this weekend loaded 4 cd,s into it,and worked like a champ. The steering wheel on the XL has dummy buttons where the XLT wheel would have(I believe) radio controls..Ive been contemplating finding the appropriate wheel with harness, and buttons to make remote control more easy...Dont know if ill ever do it.
Concerning your situation..as I said earlier its gonna be a crap shoot.About the only other thing you can do is indeed get an aftermarket with remote..Ive had them before, and found myself shoving the remote in the glove box,and forgetting it was there.........
