My truck does not have the uplifter switch option and I'm looking for a source to power my cb. When I pop out the cigarette lighter bezel on the back side is a wire harness that goes no where , perhaps this is for the up lifter switches. Any help is welcome, thanks.
I would probably just run a fused line to the battery on the driver side, there are pass thru wires stubbed out by the firewall under the brake reservoir. Not sure where they come out inside though. Anyway, then you could run your radio without turning the ignition on. Same is true with the cig lighter or maybe the fuse box, not sure about that.
Lots of stuff around the dash runs at lower voltage than 12, mainly the lights and switches.
I don't know how much power the radio pulls but most use the purple wire that is bundled with the pto wires under the drivers kick panel. Be real careful when wiring anything to these trucks the wiring is a nightmare. Very few wires under the dash are bigger then 16ga... Anyway, purple wire 12v switched with the ignition, part of the pto bundle. I ran my ground to one of the bolts that hold the small computer (i think it is the sat radio module) just above the e-brake. The fuse block is shore-horned into the passenger kick panel and is impossible to do anything with....

Thanks for the info. I could use another power source. Hopefully the OP can find the wire too.
