Wrong plud stupid!!! Need help ASAP!!

Hello,

I made a HUGE F-up and pulled the wrong drain plug on my truck.

I thought I was pulling the oil drain plug, and when the fluid started coming out I noticed it was slightly red and then little alarm bells started going off and I realized that I had pulled the tranny drain plug.

So, the question is where do I add additional tranny fluid in my truck??

I have 1999 F250 SD with the 5.4L V8. Please help we are to leave for camping in about 2 hours.

Thanking you in advance.
!!!

-J

Good news is you have a 4r100, so regular Mercon tranny fluid works, doesn't have to be the special stuff ford requires in the new tranny's.

I could be completely wrong here, but usually when I need to top off, I do it through the dipstick tube. There may be another place to do it, but that may be easiest for you with your short timeframe. You need a funnel too, as if that was already obvious...

The truck wasn't running because the dude meant to drain the engine oil and by mistake pulled the transmission drain plug.

No offense, but if you can't find where to put in transmission fluid, do you really think you should be driving any vehicle?

Well maybe he's one of the guys that can afford to have someone else do that for him or used to be one of those guys. I'm sure now with everyone losing their jobs shops are getting a lot more of the types of jobs where someone messed up by trying to save a few bucks.

If any of you have experience taking the family camping, 2 hours before leaving is just about the worst time to try and use your head. Cut him some slack, he's been dealing with loading kid's crap, food, all the stuff he needs to have fun, a wife that's probably yelling at the kids trying to keep them out of his way, and, he can't drink beer while he's doing it 'cause he's got to drive half the night.

I hope everything is ok with the tranny.

You forgot to add that the wife was probably nagging a bitching the whole time about anything and everything that doesn't go right and how its all his fault.LOL

Easy guys. Everyone has to start somewhere.

If you have not made an "oops" while turning a wrench on a vehicle...well, you probably don't own a wrench.

Way to welcome the new guy! A well placed smiley might have helped that go down a little better.
