i want to tighten it and the front suspension up ....any help pls
ps : my 14 yearold girl went for the first ride in it since i saved from the "woods" said " dad this thing is a little scary" (as i shifted into third with a brand new clutch) i then explained to her that this was a real truck not like my 2000 ranger 3.0 auto...
My truck had a bunch of play in the steering too, the same setup as yours. You just need to tighten the sector adjustment shaft. If you have a repair manual for the truck, it tells you what to do in the steering section.
It's the screw adjustment with a locknut on it, on top of the steering box as you look down on it.
If it needed adjusting, it makes a big difference to steering & handling.
But there's a proper procedure, as newrider3 mentioned.
If over-tightened the steering gear wears.
If you lift it, you would need an alignment. Which for my '85 was $140 and not done right. I need to have someone else do it. I almost can't keep mine in the paint.
