1982 F-250 Air Cleaner Riser Info Help
I have an '82 F-250 with 300 IL6 with a single barrel Carter carb(?).
I live in Alaska and have had problems with the automatic electric choke I had installed a few years ago (all the original choke stuff was off of it as well as the smog stuff when I bought it. No IM is needed to register here where I live).
Anyway, I've had nothing but problems with the electric choke dialing it in and it working properly since installed, so I put in an old fashioned manual cable choke set up. It works great but it created a problem for me.
The new choke cable brace that is just off the carb is now too high and in the way of the original air cleaner body that fits over the carb throat.
I am asking anybody if they know of a spacer/riser available that can sit on top of the carb and would raise the base of the air cleaner housing up an inch or inch-and-a-half. The cleaner housing would then clear the new choke cable brace. I think there will still be enough room beteen the hood lid and air cleaner housing after I raise it.
If I lived in a warm climate I'd just put on a small chrome aftermarket air cleaner, but I need the use of the carb heat riser pre-heat divertor that's in the intake throat of the stock cleaner for it to run right in winter time.
Any ideas on where I could find a riser for my single barrel Carter to raise it up so it will clear the choke cable brace?
Thanks for any help
