Okay, I have a very busy weekend planned for me this Labor day. First of all I am going to install the CCV mod followed by the foil delete. I will then be painting the pipes red. I am going to have to wait on buying the new boots to finish everything off though.
I have the black and yellow rings for the front hubs to install along with the dust shield and another pressed in piece by the knuckle.
I have purchased new powerslot brake rotors and hawk LTS pads. I am just waiting for the shipment. (hopefully by sat)
Also I have the glowplugs yelling at me to be replaced before winter. They are in the bag in the basement.
My question is "since I am going all into the front axle brakedown R/R should I go ahead and buy new ball joints for the front end?" The Ex has 95k miles on it. I have heard that many people replaced thiers with MOOG brand that has a grease fitting.
I'm with Layson. Check the ball joints. If there's no movement, leave them alone for now.
When you do the glow plugs, don't forget to torque the rocker arms and injector hold down bolts, and maybe shim the UVCH.
I agree Chris, I am one of the lucky ones, at 107k and my ball joints are still tight. But if you are gonna pull the valve covers for the glow plugs I would go ahead an do the 50 cent mod just so you dont have to worry about pullin the valve covers again whey your uvch comes unplugged. That's one of those things you can just expect to happen.

You've got a 2wd Costa. I've got 304k on my factory ball joints. Our trucks are easier on them than the 4wd crowd. Don't get in any hurry to change yours.

304k on factory ball joints!!!! WOW
Glad I dont have to think about doing that job for a while.
I wasnt able to fix anything on labor day. I did however take some time off of work and start it today.
I replaced the rotors with powerslot cryo's, and hawk LTS pads. I even threw on new slide pins. Install was no problen except for one minor incident. I had been up working midnights/child care daytime for 2 days straight and I used the impact to tighten a bolt. Of course it stripped the bolt off inside the slide pin. I was able to get it out though. . I strated to take my time after that.
I also serviced my hubs and replaced the black and yellow o-rings. I was hoping that it would fix my vac leak. It didn't . Still blows out the defrost.
That was all I completed for now.
Next on the list is to take care of the glow plugs. Install the CCV kit, and paint my tubes.
