As some of you may know or can see by my avatar i have a rat rod project ive been working on as well as my f250.
The rat is basically my creative outlet... some stats
1949 ford f6 stake body
Flathead v8 8rt ( aka 8ba)
4 speed crash box
10" front z in the frame 12" c notch with axle flip in the rear
6" body drop/channel
Well i had the 49 on the back burner because of the f250 and its killing me to watch the weeds grow around it
The otherday i stopped into the local hotrodders backyard shop to check out his newly chopped merc when i notice a shoebox ford in the shop.
long story shorter he was pulling the flatty to put in a chevy small block ... i asked what he was doing with the engine he said he got to keep it as part of the deal
I asked what he wanted for it and he sent me home to find out what it was worth. So i asked some friends and here in the 48 - 60 forum and was told between 500 and $1000
Went back yesterday and told him i wa told between $500 and $750... to my surprise he says i was thinking $500 i was like me too...
So now i own a running flatty with offenhauser heads and intake...
The 7.3 is on the backburner but i think i did good
Ihave pics in other threads but im on my phone so i cant post them
Looks great man! I hate it when I see Chevy motors in classic Fords. At least stay with Ford! A 289/302/351W is a very respectable motor, and is just as build-able as a stinkin' 350!
HES PUTTING A CHEVY MOTOR IN A SHOEBOX FORD!!!!!!! I know people love to do this CRAP when it somes to the early rats BUT not a shoebox!!! He might as well put one in the chopped merc. People make me angry! Sorry for the venting what were you saying???? LOL
I know it broke my heart to see the small block chevy between those fenders ... well until i saw my new flatty not between those fenders
ps i love the 60 nothing like huge low cars in prime
That's a sweet project!!
Glad to see you plan on using it to, think you said to haul a car around! I think that adds all the more value to it and increases the 'wow' factor when you can actually use it, not just sit in a show room to look pretty.
