I just moved from my house in to an appartment and bought a 2003 ford 250 powerstroke(im new to this diesel world)...now i live on the 3rd floor and i cant use any extension cord...now i cant plug in my truck....it gets to like 5-10 degrees fahrenheit where i live.......!!!! Whats should i do !!! Or can i do sumthing eles where i dont have to plug it in
As powerstroke8994 said, keep it changed at apprx 5k mile intervals and use Motorcraft, International, or Racor filters. You should be fine. Many folks start in temps this low without a block heater.
Oh - and also keep your batteries and alternator healthy!
I agree, synthetic oil will help your cold weather starts. Add a remote starter like I have from AstroStart and your truck will be up to temperature when you get ready to leave.
my remote start can be set to start every 4hrs for 12, 24,36,and 48minutes.
its a crimestopper cool start www.crimestopper.com i will be installing this on monday. I can just see my fuel bill now
Last winter my 6.0 diesel started just fine when temperatures were -15 deg F without using the block heater. The heater cord is somewhere under the truck, but I've never had to find and use it.
As Bismic mentioned, running 5-40 synthetic oil makes cold weather starting a no-problem issue. Meeting your first-floor neighbor with a 6-pack is always a good idea.
