HELP... I am replacing the clutch in my 96 f150. The issue I have is the threaded stud that locks the shift arm to the lower shifter assembly seems to be frozen in place. Anyone have an idea on how to remove it without damaging it? Already sprayed the mess out of it with PB Blaster and tried rattling the garbage loose with a small air hammer bit. If anyone has some advise that might help, please let me know.
Here's a thread that describes how to remove the shifter from the shifter stub.
Or you can just remove the 3 torx bolts at the base plate of the shifter. Then you pull up and the whole shifter and stub will pull out as one piece. Make sure you place the transmissionr in neutral which will make it easier to reinstall the shifter.
