Last year I purchased the fan speed resistor at my local Ford dealer. It was approximately $23.00-25.00. When replacing it [an easy job], you might want to take your blower motor out and carefully reach in and remove what will be ground up leaves and possibly nests. Be careful not to destroy the gasket located between the motor and the housing. Ford still offers these as well. I believe it was approximately $8.00. Reach both to the left and right. If you have A/C, you will feel the evaporator coil to the right side. By removing the debris, your air flow will be increased through the ventilation system.
A big contributor to burning out the resistor, besides the trash, is a squealing or dragging blower motor. The increased electrical draw burns up the resistor. Usually, when this happens, the fan might operate only on the highest speed.

thanks everybody i replaced the heater core and it was leaking in several ares, i should have my new blower motor resister next week, ok on to the next problem, anybody had a problem with iratic idle when you come to a stop, any idea where to start on this problem?
