California truck Differences
Humph!
As said before, we have a Glow Plug Control Module instead of the relay.
Also, I think part of the Cali PCM flash has to do with the de-fueling. From what I understand that on deceleration, fuel is actually shut off to cylinders. I know that when I'm coasting down on a freeway off-ramp, there's a period of time in there I don't hear any injector noise. As I get close to stopping, the injectors pick back up and start firing again as the engine gets close to idle RPMs.
With the new emissions testing going on starting next year, I would be careful what you do. So far all I've heard is that it will be a visual inspection, an OBD-II plug-in and a visual smoke inspection. The technicians are supposed to receive training on what to do and look for, so if your CA emissions sticker says you have a cat, they might look for it. They are also supposed to look for CARB certifications for any mods you have (again, that's if they look AND know what to look for). I will be interested to see if my 6637 gets any questions. Luckily there is no roller test (dynamometer) as I'm sure they will not be aware of the 3400rpm redline on our trucks.
