ok so i finally bought a truck... ill post pictures and say more about it this weekend, but for now i have a question, and i probably already know the answer... i dont know how well the previous owner maintained the truck. and i wanted to run some motor flush in the oil before i change the oil... but i wanted some thoughts first... my thought was its not good because of the injectors. but wanted some others thoughts... thanks
I wouldn't put seafoam in the oil of a PSD... it will probably give the HEUI system fits. A dab in the fuel would probably not hurt anything, but not the oil.
heres a link to a post I did on seafoam with links to there stuff FAQ's about diesels. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/8...hlight=seafoam They biggest hing they say about it is its petroleum not chemical so it wont hurt diesel engines.
I've done the sea foam right before a oil change, dumped in the can while it was running so it didn't settle and sit in some dead corner and let it high idle with the AIC on for 10 min or so, seemed to do a real good job but I'm kinda a sea foam freak, we buy it by the case at work and use it religiously!!

Thats how you are supposed to use it in a diesel.
Diesels require more lubrication then a gas engine.
but if you watch the video's or read, they say not to run it full time. To run it for x time and drain oil.
SeaFoam is safe.
But i'm not sure how well it will work on old injectors. Thats my worry. If I had rebuilt injectors. I'd run seafoam.
I was in the same boat when I got mine. The first oil change I used Rotella T 5w-40 and a bottle of the Lucas Synthetic oil treatment. Ran it for about 500 miles. Ran it hard on the highway and drained it. I was surprised how much junk came out of the engine. I run Redline oil normally. Flushed the HPOP not long after that second oil change. Runs allot smoother now. Depending on the mileage on the engine. Mine had about 75k on it and I have no issues running synthetic oil. Running a quality synthetic is one of the best things you can do for your engine.
