Seating question for 2000 5.4L XLT
I am about to purchase a 2000 Expy. My wife is driving me nuts with questions. She has sat in the Eddie Bauer and loved the seats. She has sat in the cloth interior and hated them. To each their own. My question is, is there a difference in the Eddie Bauer and XLT leather seating, or is it just the name stitched in that separates the 2? I appreciate any input. Also, anyone know of any issues with the 4 wheel drive for 2000?
Thanks again,
Craig

there is very little differance between the EB leather and the XLT leather seats other then embrodery. . .
In my opinion the leather qaulity in both is lacking, check for excesive cracking on the seat cushion side bolsters (what there is of them) most people seem to 'slide' down out of the seat rather then use the running boards when getting out of the trucks and that putts alot of wear on the seats.
As you note, to each his own. IMO, the cloth is the better choice if you want a seat that will not be as cold in the winter , hot in the summer and not show wear quite as much. I do not like the lack of lateral support in either of them so I have plans to replace mine with the seats out of a '03 Mustang SVT Cobra.

I think there is a difference in the seats, as I found the leather ones less comfortable than the XLT cloth. Generally I like leather, but she-who-must-be-obeyed does not. You actually have a third choice.
We just recently bought a 2000 used Expedition 5.4L XLT. We found a truck that had originally been ordered with the "Sport Appearance Group" option. The seats are cloth, but they aren't that automotive industry unborn peach fuzz stuff - they are a harder fabric, kind of a charcoal colored fabric that I don't have a word to describe (maybe twill? what does "twill" mean anyway?)
With this package the front seats don't have armrests, and the centre console is wider instead. We're pretty happy with this fabric and the sport package (it included some other stuff besides the interior fabric change).
