I think that it has a bar on the tailgate. LMC Truck should have most of the parts you want.

This should work for you http://www.lmctruck.com/. You can also try National Parts Depot.

I tried to buy cables for 1981 f150 at LMC, they told me "if the part isn't listed for that year, they won't have it" and bars won't work on the truck. In fact, they was kind of snotty about it.

Why not check a junkyard before putting any money out on new cables?

That is the cables I called about when they told me what they did. I figured I would pick up some at pull-a-part, but, not 1 in the whole yard!

Might see if you can swap out the mounting bolts or tabs and convert it to use the little metal arms. Or you could get some small steel cable and make your own cables. I'm hoping to make some of my own someday, all I was gonna need aside from cable would be cable clamps (they look like tiny little U-bolts).

If you have both ends of the cables, you can go to a wire rope place, they can cut the cable right behind the connections and put new cables with tiny splicers not much bigger than the cables. All you have to do then is put your bend on them. total cost of parts $5.00. Of course I had to drive 25 miles to the place, but, well worth it!

well im just askin so i can get a general idea on price and how easy i can find these parts. im gettin ready to buy an 80 and its really in perfect condition other than that. cant get any pics up yet but ill try. its a show truck so it looks like it came off a showroom floor. BUT the guys wants 8000 for it. now to me, thats a lot for a 30yr ol truck. granted the 460 only has 166000mi...so say its been driven only 5000 or so a year and it was a garage queen. im going to either buy this or supercharge my 06 mustang. what do you guys think? take on this project of supercharge haha

Nice truck! Now that that is out of the way, for $8000 you could find a truck, build it into a capable wheeler without worrying about denting or messing up an $8000 29 year old truck, AND supercharge that Mustang.

Too much money I think especially for an F 150.
