Compass/MPG computer

Hi, it has been awhile since I last posted anything. I have a limited 04 Excursion. My compass went out and the dealer replaced it. The new one has a thermometer in it, my old one did not. My thermometer/outside temperature is in the AC display underneath the radio. The reading in the new computer reads -40 degrees (obviously not hooked up because you could fry eggs on the sidewalk right now).

Does anyone with a limited model have two thermometers? Or did I get the wrong part installed? My dealer claims it was the right part number, possibly just used for ease when installing in the XL/XLT/Eddie Bauer or F series trucks. I am not too concerned, just curious. If anyone knows how to delete that display please let me know.

Thanks.

I have an 03 Linited, no thermometer in the overhead console only on the climate controls.

Maybe if you have manual heat and air controls the thermometer would be in the overhead console, and if you have digtial heat and air controls its on the dash readout.

So they may have ordered one for manual controls instead of digtial heat and air.

when they ordered it did you give them your VIN number for accuracy or just order it off of year make and model?

my father in laws 2000 eddie bauer expedition has the automatic climate control system, it shows the outside temp at the a/c control and the overhead shows direction and mpg. my 2001 limited excursion has the overhead system that shows direction, mpg and outside temp. i bet they didn't plug the new unit to the temp probe.

I'll tell you what they did, they found one for a 2000-2001 truck and stuck it on your 2004 truck not thinking that there was a difference. Yeah they look alike, but since the 2002 MY they only read your average mpg and how far before you have to push.

It's actually easier than you think to replace too!

Thanks for all the responses. I am assuming they installed the wrong part. Not a biggie as I already have the temp display in the AC unit.

Thanks.

What did your computer cost? Mine just went black. i question whether it is completely broken though. It was working fine, it just got dimmer and dimmer over time until it was just black.

They installed the wrong part no question. I'd take it back and have them make it right or hook up both temp read outs!
