I ordered a set of hidden straps from Old Car Centre and the have the nylon woven straps with stainless mounting points. I will try and post up a picture once I figure out why the FTE server will not allow me to add any more pictures to my albums?????
What kind of bed support did you give it. The side of my bed wants to wobble to much, not enough structure to support it. I am interested in what you do. Kurt G.
The rear bed crossmember and the stake pockets are what support the bedsides. If the bedsides are wobbly then there is a disconnect issue between the stake pockets and the rear sill, probably rusted out.
What year truck do you have?
On the 50 and earlier trucks with the raised bedside panels the rear bed sill is a "U" shape unit. The rounded stake pockets attach to the bedside as well as having a support piece taht spot welds into the stake pocket and the rear sill. The later boxes (mid 50 and later) have square stake pockets and rear sill but I imaging the attachment is similar.
It sounds like its time to get underneath it and have a good look, have someone flex the bedside back and forth and see if you can spot where you are getting the movement.
