Post Wont Crank

1990 F150 XLT has been sitting 4 months - dead battery and out of gas - installed new battery and gas - turns over but wont start - could it be fuel injection stopped up? If so, could anyone tell me what I should do to repair the problem? The truck was running fine when it was parked 4 months ago.

I'd start by spraying some combustible fluid into the throttle body if it were me (it isn't such a bright idea trust me) and see if it will start. if it starts and dies then its your fuel pump, also check all your connections to the battery and under the hood in general. also check for spark.

If it ain't broke.....change stuff till it is!

Don't use Starter fluid...try carb. cleaner. It fires just as good, but won't harm the cylinders. I've talked to people who say not to use it because it harms the cylinders. U may also want to take the plugs out and check for spark. when u have the plugs out, check it they are wet. if they are, it's not a fuel problem. maybe try a compression check too...

Unfortunately, troubleshooting your problem is not so simple. We cannot see, hear, feel what you can see, hear, feel on location with the truck so you have to provide specific information so we can evaluate.

First check the basics. Do you have spark at the plugs? Are you getting fuel in the cylinders? Is the fuel pump running? Do you have good compression on all cylinders? Is the timing correct?

There is no "it turns over but won't crank. What is wrong with it" answer.

If you do not know how to check the things listed above, get someone who does to help you.

We would like to help, but it has to be a partnership. You tell us what you see, hear, etc. We will try to tell you what it means.

Remember, if it has fuel, spark, compression, and correct timing, it will crank and run. If it does not crank and run, one of the four is inadequate or missing.

Feed us information and we will analyze it for you.
