Talking Engine controller?

What is the sensor or whatever it is at the top rear of the block called. What exactly does it do? 85 6.9L bone stock Thanks

That would be the control switch it senses temperature and determines the length of time the GPs will be on. Unfortunately it has a habit of failing in the on position and burning out the GPs. The oil pressure sender is back there too but it is in the center of the block.

Could he be referring to the oil pressure sensor? The glow plug controller is threaded into the rear of the head, not the block.
