What suggestions are out there to correct my 2 barrel carb throttle sticking? It is obviously worse in the colder mornings but I have to keep revving it up in order for it to kick back down. Even when I shift, I have to tap the pedal in order for it to stop so I can shift. I have lubed the linkage up before and that didn't seem to do anything. And sometimes when I do tap on the gas for it to kick back down, it seems to rev up and stick at a higher RPM... then I tap it again and sometimes it does and sometimes it doesnt kick down.
And another issue... how do you go about reseting the mixture on these 2 barrels? I think I am burning an awful amount of gas due to how strong the fumes are.
Cabby, pop the air cleaner and clean up the top of the carb with some spray solvent.
When the engine is cold, hang over the engine and manually pull the throttle linkage to open the throttle. You will see the choke snap closed and you will see a screw that hits a staircase that is on the choke rod. Start backing off this screw and you will start coming down off the fast idle when you restart.. You may have to rock it a few times.
Clearly, you have a problem with your choke setting and this adjustment might be causing your lousy mileage.
