Upgrades while motor is out

Upgrades while motor is out

While the motor is out, I am going to take advantage, and get a few projects done ahead of time.
1- install new exhaust system, 3" downpipe with 4" exhaust and straight thru muffler
2- replace under valve cover wiring harness
3- 203 T=stat
4- Rosewood diesel stage 1 injector kit- I surely feel this is a good opportunity to replace injector O-rings, and the added performance would be a plus. It will much easier doing this work now, with everything easy to get to.
I will put a tuner and airfilter on as well, but that can come later...

I would do the turbo while while its out if you plan on upgrading it any thime soon. Its WAY easier out of the truck

Exhaust manifolds and up pipes. Oil pan r and r. Dip stick o-ring. Oil cooler. Oil plugs on the heads.

I was always wondering about manifolds and up pipes on these things. Nobody ever talks about them. There has to be better flowing manifolds for these doods.

I don't think there is anything except for headers. Headers are $1,000 or a little more. Plus more if you want ceramic coating.

I think WOP makes headers but they're pricey and from what i've heard stock flows fine unless your like 600+ rwhp

I second PJWOOLW on the manifold bolts and up pipes.

I recently had a heck of a time with replacing mine with the motor in. Granted I think my manifold bolts could not have been much more worse... having the motor out would have made things hel a lot more easier.

I forget who i called about thier headers. I know they are in Texas though.

He said that headers will advance the power by 500 rpm's. and that they will help at any horsepower motor you have. Makes sense, but who know's.

I didn't have that kind of money to spend.

Well, headers are your flow.

They will increase the power by helping to spool the turbo sooner.

Plus they would look bad ***. Wonder how well they will hold up though. Iv'e never heard any comments on them.

DI performance makes them. i will be putting a set on my truck when i pull the engine to do the crowers, mahle's, crank balancing, cam, firerings, and head porting... i will let y'all know how they sound/perform. i'm only putting them on for sound and they are bound to flow better and spool faster than the manifolds do.. haha
