Well I got my new 285 Nitto Terra Grappler A/T installed today. Love the looks of the tires, hate the fact that they dont have white lettering. Does anyone have a way to outline the letters in white?
Unfortunately, I don't. I've only ever seen it on a shelf. Never used it or seen anyone else use it. If you try it, let me know how it works and make sure you take before and after photos to post.
Have used one of those pens on the Freightliner. The white will quickly turn a nasty yellow-ish color as the tires "do their thing" as they run. You'll have to keep up with the touch-ups VERY often, especially if you put a lot of miles on.
It's VERY time consuming, and VERY delicate work, if you want it to look GOOD. Plan on at least an hour per tire.
I wouldn't bother with painting them. The factory lettering is very white and integral with the tire. Made to last under severe conditions which is exactly what is thrown at it. I would probably get used to black tires. What I think is tacky is when the lettering is turned inside. This reminds me of those 3" add-on whitewalls that were held on by the wheel back in the stone ages. Ha .

I was wondering how the marker would look. I wish I would have choose a different tire then. I just hate the looks. I guess I will learn to live with it for now.
on are semi's we painted the lettering on them and holds up for about 6 mounts "but we power wash them every week and the steam cleaner will take paint off the cab ha ha"
but one pen will do your 4 tires.
I've used the DupliColor pen. I think there are actually a couple of pictures in my gallery that show what it looked like immediately after I did one tire. It was kinda a PITA. Not to mention the fact that it turned yellow in a few days... Comes off with a pressure washer.

I know it's all personal preference, but I'm one who would look at your truck and think it looks better without the white lettering.
