Has anybody had problems with a HPX leak? Ive had mine installed and running about a week. Today it started leaking,... A LOT Im sure you canfigure out how I got to the flying J and followme from there to my dads and then home from the oil trail. Didnt notice anything til I got back the J to leave and saw a samll puddle under my truck and dismissed it, drove to my dads and never noticed anything funny including a loss in oil pressure but saw a lot of oil under it at my dads and the trail of how I got there. couldnt locate the leak there. Got home and found oil all over the starter mud flaps drive lines leaf springs and turbo and some (not a lot in the valley) Thought I lost a turbo o-ring. Then found with it running I could see it leaking at one of the fittings between the flared end of the hose. not at the 45* elbow, or the heads. Tried tightening it up to no avail. Small trickle (concidering the pressure) of oil kinda like leaving the sink on in the winter. (its not spraying) Anybody familair with this or a way to fix it short of replacing it?
Like I said it appears to be leaking through the swivel area btween the hose itself and the flare fitting on the end of the hose, before it tightens to the 45* elbow. I bought this from a distributor who gets them from tymar, so its not a custom made job, but I figure Ive already lost 1-2 gal of oil. So for now unless anybody knows of a way to fix it I guess I have to put the factory config back together, if not.
Well I took it apart and put the factory lines back together so I could use my truck, and upon further inspection of the line, it turns out to be a bad crimp on the line that is allowing a very small pin hole leak and at these high pressures it turns in a small trickle. I lost 2 gal of oil in the end. but its running now. Definately gotta see about getting another line solid or otherwise.
The line had been in for about a week and a half, and then it started leaking yesterday, lost 2 gal in probably 25 miles about a half hour 45 minutes. still ran good though.
Just saw the pictures. That looks like a steel braided line If I'm not mistaken. First off, where did you get it? Second, I know Clay at Riffraff sells both a soft line and a hard line if you want to go that route. If you want to make your own, or get one made locally, I would go to the Parker Store. They have a hydraulic line that is rubber coated and it is abrasive resistant.
I bought it from a local performance diesel shop, they deal all kinds of brands of stuff, if I called the shop owner about warrantying hes supposed to call monday morning about it, I thought he said it was a tymar hose, but I cant remember or find my receipt. If theyll replace it thats all I care I mean its not like it failed bey over tightening, its leaking through the collar after running a week, its got a bad crimp, plain and simple bad luck assembly of a part. I used to make rubber hoses for heavy equipment at cat, it happens. I just never made a braided steel hoses. So Im waiting to see if theyre boing to warranty it or not first.
If they don't warranty it then that would be the last item I ever bought from them.
I agree. Even if the part itself doesn't have a warranty as a business owner you should at least cover the part for 30 days. Otherwise that's just bad business...

I also call directly to Dale (Tymar owner) and talk with him about this, Im sure he will take care of that.
And you know my vibration... it was caused by my water pump.... it was so bad that it has 1/2 inch play, and metal rattles around in there when you shake it... i might save it just to show you some time... it amazed me... My truck shifts smoother than it ever has now... Just got to get the once warm rough idle away and new glow plugs in it and she should be good for another 100K.
