Sounds like it could be a broken compression ring or a loose injector. Pull the valve cover and check no. 8 injector to see if it has come loose. Or the copper washer at the tip could have gone away. Those would be easy fixes. Have the injectors been removed recently? Others will be along with other ideas.

By the way, welcome to FTE!

Welcome to FTE. Are you running any kind of chip or tuner? Do you have a gauge where you can watch EGT's?

Smoke out the oil fill cap isn't too much of a cause of concern, extremely low compression numbers would have me worried. If you remove the oil fill cap and start the truck, what does the blow by look like? Smoke is no problem. Puffing is bad. If you flip the oil cap upside down and it gets blown off the tube, that's bad. If it just vibrates off the tube, no worries.

put a new injector and compression not strong enough to fire well enough, still smoking and dumping fuel out exhaust, replacing engine this week coming. ill probably rebuild the engine after i pull it, engines are quite exspensive.
