Paint Cracking In Rain Channels
hi,
i just got done waxing my 2006 F-350 crew cab. while waxing the roof, i noticed cracks running down both edges of the rain channels on both sides of the truck.
anyone else have this going on?
the truck went out of warranty last month. do you think the paint warranty will still apply?

Same here ... my truck came out of Texas and I was told it has something to do with the heat and the expansion/contraction of the roof joint.
My first F-250, an '05, came out of Georgia and it did not have this issue.
I'm personally just gonna leave it as is ... trying to fix it would open up a big can of worms and probably make things look worse.

yea its likely to just be the roof sealant cracking slightly..
i wouldnt worry about it.. unless u start to see rust developing, its unlikely to ever cause u any grief...

yeah, I am thinking trying to have the roof repainted would be more trouble than its worth and cause more problems.
I think I'll cover the cracks with touch up paint put a heavy coat of wax over it.
Has anyone had the crack get bigger over time or do they seem to stay the same size?

I have it too on my 2002. No real rust to speak of. However, I did drip some ospho into the cracks, a couple of places bubbled, then I filled it in with touch up paint. the touch up paint has split too. I'm glad to hear its not a big issue, every time I look at it I think about the Expeditions and the contaminated metal in the roofs requiring ford to cut off the roof and weld in a new one.
