bout time someone else showed up that wants a lowered truck!!!
ChassisTech and DJM both make 3"/5" drops for the super duties...
im pondering removing my overload springs tomorrow just to lower the back down even for now till i can afford a lowering kit
duck fan, i never steered him in the wrong direction. i was try to say shop around. you have places you like and thats cool. but that doesnt meen he shouldnt shop around for what he wants. you made a joke so im made one back. a joke. so you dont need to go easy out of respect for what im doing. thanks and i dont meen any disrespect to you sir
I never said that you steered him wrong. I suggested he use someone that he could get all his needs filled with one call. You decided to smart off about it. I'm glad to see someone new (you), getting involved in threads, but coming after me like you did was the wrong move.
heres my idea on how i will go about my short bed. make the first cut to get the wheel arch off, then the second will be across the whole be and remove a 1-2 foot section. i still need to figure it out. then move the spring forward only about 6 inches. then i can place the arch where i went since i will have a blank short bedside now. and by doing this i can retain the big fuel tank.
Man, your photoshop skills are head and shoulders above mine. I know there have been some reg-cab shortbed conversions done. Google will be your best friend on the research side. Keep us posted. Its quite the undertaking. Far beyond what I could hope to do.
Rancid check out ITP Diesel's shop trick its a reg cab short bed... I don't want to knock your ideas but I definitely think there are easier ways to go about it
Maybe do a factory short bed with an excursion tank?

i think it will be more work this way but, i like the idea of keeping the big tank. and i like it have a different look than a standard shortbed.
If you kept the wheel base the same and shortened the bed like the top pic, that would be killer, but leafsprings would be impossible. Time for a 4link and airbags, lol. Seriously though, it looks like an awesome project, and I love the prostreet look. Other then the fuel tank capacity, why not shorten the frame and use a regular shortbed, and then add an excursion fuel tank, or use an extra inbed tank. Youll have a lowered truck, so Im assuming you dont do any 5th wheel towing, a tank in the bed would be fine for room if you made one that was the height of the bedrails and full width, maybe 8" thick; That would be at least 20 more gallons.
