Throttle Linkage

I need help setting up my throttle link and kickdown on my '78 supercab. I just installed a 400 and c6 so all of this is new to me. I've got a new edelbrock 1406 and am wondering the best way to run both of these.

Any help you can give me will be great. I need this to be running by Thursday night and this is one of the last things to deal with.

Throttle Linkage

i'm on thin ice here with the 400, but here goes. the kick down on the c6 is connected to the carb by a rod that runs down to the trans. if the 400 was equipped with a 4v the carb position should allow a straight foward hook up. did you specify a ford kick down application. the linkage will have a lever inboard of the throttle linkage attachment. the kick down lever attached to the carb will have a male barb and will fit into the hole on the kick down rod. a c clip is then fitted to the male barb, attachment at the trans is similar. now once attached the kick down lever should have a small spring attached to the lever and connected near the left front on the carb. there is a piece of linkage designed for this and should be attached to the old carb. you may have to modify it for your application. this spring holds the kick down rod in the correct position. the carb linkage can be adjusted to shift to your liking. now if the engine was equipped with a 2v instead of a 4v carb the rod can be too short. edelbrock makes an adaptor the provides the needed length nad it works good. i have used one on a 302/auto. sorry for the book. hope this helps.
