Just joined about 5 mins ago. Walked up to my 2001 F250 w/ 7.3 diesel and found a pool of engine oil under it, started it and oil just came poring out. local mechanics says its the fuel injector pump, either a seal or a new pump for about $1000. Anyone have experience with this? Can I trouble shoot and replace or repair myself?

 

I would post it in the 7.3 section... You might get a better responce there...

 

sounds like you may need another mechanic... yeah like was said above go to the 7.3 section... there are tons of places that could leak oil on top of the motor. That could be a couple dollar o'ring on a HPOP line... Or a o'ring on the turbo pedestal...
