TC light issue

I know there is another thread debating the pros and cons of the traction control technology. But I was wondering if any one else has had issues with the symbol on the dash not shutting off. I had it come on a few times (when it just flashes then goes away) on a long stretch of loose gravel and noticed after a while that it just stayed on. I tried using the button but it didn't shut off. It stayed on the rest of that day's driving and half of the next day. After that it has stayed off.

I took it into the dealership today, and they scanned it and there were "some fault codes but nothing to worry about." Anyone else had any issues? Oh yeah, the same day the volume on the radio took off on its own then went back to normal when I turned the volume ****.

Yes. I actually visited the dealer two days ago regarding the issue. My light will just turn on randomly, not shutting off until the truck is restarted. Also the system will engage while turning through a rain gutter. I thought this was related to my 35" tires but the dealer thinks the system should be able to handle them. Also no codes showed up on my truck. They suggested that I bring it in if I'm nearby when the light stays solid.

According to the manual the light staying solid indicates a problem in the system and that it won't function. Damn thing works perfect when I'm offroad, but on the highway, where I actually like the system, it fails. WTF!

Cheers to that! Interesting to hear I'm not alone on this one. I'll let you know if I get any where with it...

Hey Broncobran68, I'm wondering if the light has something to do with tire wear. I rotated by tires on the day they checked the TC light and since then it has not gone on. I'm running mud terrains and I'm wondering if one side on the back axle were a little more worn than the other. I had 22,000 km (approx. 14,000 miles) on the tires when I rotated them.

I wonder how the drive works on the truck, does it have a "primary" drive wheel that would cause more tire wear than the other? ie. right rear tire burns off quicker than left rear?

Maybe just crazy ideas from a guy who spends too many hours rolling down the road!

I wouldnt have thought it was tire wear issue. I have lost maybe 1mm of tread in almost 12k miles. Unless it's that accurate.
