System too lean!
System too lean!
Hi guys, my 2000 sd gave me the following dtc's,
p 0171
p 0174,
system too lean bank's 1 and 2,
when I bought her 11 months ago the dreaded tb to pvc hose was cracked and my mechanic taped it so I could get it replaced since it worked fine I didn't replace it; could the hose have gotten worse?
Any ideas?, thanks.

When the tape repair was made I ordered a new hose and the guys never ordered it, no biggie because no money was involved, ordered replacement will have it by tuesday, thanks for the imput guys!
I have the same issue with my E- Superduty.
I have cleaned the MAF (For the 3rd time) and replaced the PCV valve and hose. Maybe a computer reset is needed so it can re-learn??
I have pulled the same codes before. Now that I have serviced those issues I have only put about 250 miles on it so I don't know if a code will toss but the pinging is still there. Grade of gas makes zero difference. I know detonation is bad and tow my Jeep on a trailer. I dont want to hurt it.
SO the Ford dealer (I paid $178 for this BTW) scanned it and checked it out and said it's normal. It never pinged like this before and I have owned it sense new. It's a Class C motorhome.
I did foul the MAF many years ago with a K&N. Removed that and cleaned the maf with rubbing alcohol and a swab. With that the pinging went away instantly and so did the K&N.
Any thoughts?

You have unmetered air entering the intake, meaning it's getting in there AFTER the MAF.
There's a vacuum leak somewhere. Have you double/triple checked all the hoses?

Yes. I even had the Dave from Blownoutsparkplug.com look everything over when he did inserts a couple of weeks ago. He said the knock sensors come loose and cause that issue but mine were tight. That's another thread I will post up to share that experience which started out a big negative and ended on a plus note.
Now I am thinking I have an intake manifold leak or maybe the gasket behind the throttle body? Hard deal to chase down.
Maybe I should just change out the Ox Sensors. Heck they are what, 11 years old.
