Too bad he says local pick up only. I've got an extra set of the green and white fenders in the garage.

That cab probably ain't going anywhere for less than $3500. It looks to be all original (complete with tilt column and what appear to be all the wiring harnesses), unmodified, has been with the present owner for the last 20 years, and appears to have been stored inside for all 20. I wouldn't be surprised if it's been climate-controlled too. It's in a display window, for crying out loud!

If he's letting it go after 20 years of sitting on it and keeping it preserved, you know he's not gonna sacrifice it. From the looks of it, he may have even been waxing the sucker all those years.

I dont see anything special. It appears to have been from a 4wd truck. Dents behind the cab indicate this. Firewall appears to indicate that the truck was brown. Overspray on the back of the cab supports a a paint job theory.
Other than having some rather rare green interior parts, nothing there gets me too excited.
Bought one like that not long ago for 350 bucks. All interior was clean and all there, and,,,,,oh yeah, it had a complete truck along with the cab,,,,, with a running 460.
Yeah, a complete running lariat truck with all of the trim for a bargain. If that cab can go for 3500 bucks, Ill sell anyone as many as they want to buy.

75, I think the "brown" you are seeing on the firewall is actually undercoating overspray. Look at the area where the inner fender support bolts to the firewall, it is still green under there.

Also remember that you are in California (where you don't know what rust means, lucky). People out here in the rust belt would KILL to get that whole cab for $350. I just attended the Carlisle All-truck Nationals last month and guys were commanding 5 bills for a pair of rust free DOORS alone, and they weren't even matching (off of two different trucks). Extreme case, yes (inflated swap meet prices), but realistic. I can easily see that cab being worth $1000 to someone around here, especially given the nice green interior. I can't see anyone in their right mind paying $3500, though. I paid $4500 for my '79 F250 2wd, rust free, 42K miles, original paint, 460/C6, cruise, tilt and air.

At the same All-Truck Nationals, there was a guy with a pair of NOS Ford doors in the original boxes. Price was $1400 firm for the pair!

Man, I gotta get some parts together and take them out there. I could have a real good time at one of those meets......
I do see your point.

Point of view, sir. As has been mentioned, you are in California where there are a great deal of these trucks left in rust free condition. Those of us who live in areas where rust is a big issue have a bit more difficulty in finding individual parts, not to mention whole cabs with wiring and interior and upholstery, that are rust free.

What is worth the price of scrap metal out there is worth gold here. A stripped but rust-through free LONG BED alone will pull in ten bills. A stripped and slightly rusted short bed will net 1300-1400 clams.

I'm glad that you guys in Cali have the supplies of trucks you do. I'm glad you can get rust free whole trucks cheaper than we on the east coast can get a couple of doors. I'm happy that if you want to you can buy a complete running truck, slap a paint job and some rims on it, and have one that looks like new. I'm overjoyed that because you don't have to pay dearly for decent parts, you have extra money for big lifts, big suspensions, big tires, expensive stereos, and anything else you could ever want to put in your truck.

But you don't need to rub it in.

BTW- I can get just about all of the green interior pieces you want, as long as you want the whole truck that's for sale with it. Green interiors are common over here, and they aren't worth much to us.

I'll put you on the list and keep an eye out for one. Haven't seen many really nice dashpads, but I'm trying two more yards this weekend and grabbing up what I can.

PM me so I can get an idea of a dollar amount. Some of these guys really hang on to their stuff, so even if I find a nice one, it may not be worth the price to you.

Yeah, heak of a deal buddy. How are you? That truck is about rolling now. It is 4wd and painted and the interior looks great.

I'm taking a bit of a beating here, but yours was one of the forst ones that I purchased. I have had several since that one.

Never thought I was rubbing anything in, just saying that there are several of these out here and perhaps instead of paying the premium for parts out there when you cant find them, maybe take a trip out here and drag some stuff home.

If a rust free clean interior cab like that brings that kind of cheddar, I might be consider a trip out there myself.
A fella could clean up.

Ill throw this out there again. It seems to appear that I pay the premium for Dana 60 front axles (78/9). I mean a premium. I read about the fellas out there buying them for dirt cheap money, so maybe that is the checks and balances thing.

You guys need clean sheetmetal? I need good Dana 60 fronts. I can arrange a truck and Im sure something can be worked out.

For the record, I was not rubbing it in, just suggesting that I was not really seeing where this part could demand some serious money like what was mentioned. Its amazing to me, thats all.

Nothing personal, 75...

It's just that at least twice a week I read the same thing about cheap rust free trucks out there, and I have to sort through literally tons upon tons of scrap metal looking for decent parts that aren't there. Frustrating, that's all.

I have no doubt that if the Ebay seller holds out, he will get three and a half Gs for that thing from an east coaster who is doing a full resto and has way too much disposable income.

Unfortunately, I am in 4x4 country and D60s aren't hanging out in junkyards here either. Haven't seen a single one yet. Come to think of it, I haven't even seen a single D44 yet! The yard guys around here ain't stupid...they know what they have out back, and they're itchin' to pay off that bass boat. Like I told Dads79, if they still have what you want, you'd better want it bad, because you won't like the price. I lucked out on little stuff that I got before because I had connections with those guys. The next two yards on the list will be very different...if they even have anything.
