Start-up question

Lately the truck has been spinning over more than usual before it fires up. At first I thought battery cause mine was 5 years old and low. I got a new battery and its still doing it. Any ideas to figure this out?

It does start, just seems to take longer than the initial spin and fire.

Fuel delivery issue maybe? Have you tried turning the key to the On position a couple times before actually cranking it (prime the fuel pump)?

When was the last tune-up? If recent, what brand parts did you use? What kind of plugs are in it?

I would... Clean all grounds, and change the fuel filter.

Something is getting weak, or plugged. What is it?? IS ther any water under the cap?

Fuel pressure, with no volume, will do exactly what your describing. So will a weak ground.

I would start with grounds and filters... go from there. Its cheap, and rules things out. Expand from there.

Temp sensor on the water neck will also make those sympotoms, but only on cold start up..

Alright. Ill start with these ideas. Probably the prime one first. Its the easiest.

I dont know when the fuel filter was last changed but it doesnt look old. Ill replace it though. I think I have on lying around. I did a tune-up about a year ago with mid grade auto zone stuff (yeah, its not top of the line but I dont have much money). Motorcraft plugs.

It really could be ignition too. How do the plugs look? Are they gapped properly?

MC plugs are a good thing.
