I prefer one like this that allows both kinds of entry and can be bolted to the floor.

I purchased one 20 years ago, had it in a 5.0 Mustang. the car was stolen and stripped, when we found it my vault and gun were still there (I think they missed it, since they even cut the top off for the sunroof). I've moved it from vehicle to vehicle every since, its a little beat up but I love it. Mine is set up so I can unlock it, remove a large pin, and take the whole thing with me if I'm staying with family and I don't want a kid getting ahold of my gun or use it in my other cars. I can even fit my Desert Eagle "hand cannon" in there.

i was looking for nice spot to hide but cant find one, i was looking for a faulse panel or a drop down panel with no luck. the problem with the vault is speed of getting to it. now if you have kids in the car completly understand the vault.

What bothers me is the laws in other states when I travel dont let me carry so I have to leave it unsecure in my truck where as it would be much safer on my person.
Crazy laws that prevent law abiding folks from making the country a safer place. lol

I have no idea, at the time I worked for a car stereo place and we had a couple of them that we never could sell, the brand sticker on it is long gone, its probably 1/8 plate welded up with a drop down door on the end, padded inside and a heavy lock about the size of a phone book. Sucker is very heavy duty. I'm sure anyone with a welder and a little knowledge could make one and use a integral hasp and one of those concealed loop padlocks for the same result.

my carry permit allows me to carry in 31 states but not in my own, that sucks. So i have mine in my truck where i can get but most people would never look. i would like to have a custom shop build me a hide a way draw somewhere. just dont know where.

Yea traveling to some states suck. I have to unload and seperate the ammo when going to N.C. My .357 snubby has been all over the south with me. I bought a bible case a while back and sewed a pocket in the back of it to put my 1911 in it. Who's gonna steal a bible?

yea good point about the bible case. it is hard to say there is weird people out there. i carry a ruger .380 auto and i like the size. i dont worried about unloading it when i travel it just stays in it nice little hidding spot
