head bolts

head bolts

do the head bolts go into the water jackets, on my 95 f150 w/351w
they are weeping

Some do, Ive had a few to many tonight and I can remember what bolts need thread sealer, but some do. I think it is the bolts outboard of the center line but I can guarantee that.

The outer bolts do and should have sealant on the threads.

how about on a 1968 302, when I pulled the bolts, they were just oily, not rusty. When I rebuilt it, I did not use sealant on the threads. Was this a mistake? Can I pull the bolts and do a retorque without damaging the head gaskets. The engine has not been started yet.
