got a 95 F350 PSD 5spd, 4" DP to a 5" straight pipe, Edge 100hp chip and am working at getting a 6637 mod (as soon as someone tells me how to get one?) thinking of doing some stage IIs and a 6.0 cooler, which turbo is good for me? i dont do any strip time i just want a street truck that turns heads and is fast.. i see alot of ppl talking about doing HPX and 140 IDM mods and I have NO IDEA what those are could someone enlighten me as to what these are.. the benefits they bring and how do I go through with doing these mods? and aswell if theres any more mods out there?
first off get rid of the edge and get a chip from dp-tuner, total diesel performance, or power hungry performance. they are all custom tuners and will get the most out of you psd.
the 6637 is done by getting the filter from www.fleetfilter.com then get about a foot or so of 4" exhaust pipe bent in a 45* angle in the middle and get a 4" coupler and piece it together.
the HPX is a line that connects the high pressure oil rails on both heads. this equalizes the oil pressure and allows the ICP sensor to read pressure from both heads gaining you a smoother running truck and will eventually make a difference by your truck not cutting out at high rpms.
as for turbo, with stage 2's i would go with an H2E kit. you can get them from dieselsite for $2250.
the IDM mod is like this. your stock IDM(injector drive module) puts out 100v. you can get one or mod yours yourself to put out 140v thus firing the injectors faster/harder
you need to get a set of guages before thinking about doing injectors and also if you have an auto tranny get a tranny cooler/upgraded tranny or if u have a manual tranny get you a good clutch. i get mine from valair clutch. www.valairinc.com
If your truck is an auto then you need to get trans temp, egt, and boost guages. if you have a manual trans then there is no need for a trans temp guage.
i will have to do a search for where to buy them, but i'm sure you could run a search on 140v IDM mod in this forum and find how to do it. i know someone did a write up on it, but i can't find it right now...
yes, the HPX is a bolt on part. just buy the line from tymar performance. i know they send a straight fitting for when you move the high pressure oil line forward. it takes about 5 minutes to do this mod. haha.
i wouldn't bother with the 10k mod or 14.7k mod or 22k mod or any of those. they might give you 5hp but thats it. if you get a decent chip this will be useless anyways. however, those mods do only cost about 5 bucks or so.... but your edge chip does a lot more than the 10k mods will give you. i did all the different versions and all i did was blow out my IPR o-rings in the process. so i don't screw with them anymore.
You can get the IDM from www.beansdieselperformance.com its 100 bucks plus a 400 dollar core. the only thing with doing it yourself is if you f**k it up then your going to have to spend 500 bucks for this mod cause they wont except a burnt up IDM.
