I have a 2001 F150 with the 4.6 approaching 30,000 miles. I think that the Exxon Techron is the best F.I. cleaner. What are you guys using? How often? Or is it even necessary with today's fuels and regular filter changes? Or should I save my pennies and dimes and buy one of the pressure cleaning devices?
I have had a couple of occasions where STP fuel injector treatment has solved problems for me. The first was when the infamous "Check Engine" light came on because of carbon build up in the intake manifold. After a few days of treated gas, the light went out.
The other time was when I started noticing severe valve rattling when trying to accelerate. One tank full cured that and brought the performance back up to like it was when new.
I've got 99,000 miles on my '97 F-150 now and it still runs as well as I remember it did from the beginning.
