Help! cam sensor shaft

Hi everyone, I have 1998 F150 4.2L that started to squeal and squeak a week ago it's been driving me nuts, I removed the belt to pin point squeal and found it was coming from the cam sensor, no codes my question is how do you know if it's just the sensor or does the shaft have to be replaced???

You need the camshaft drive gear or camshaft synchronizer assembly.
