im looking for a flywheel for a 1977 ford f-250 4x4 with a 351m/400 can anyone point me in the right derection to a retailer or individual that has one
I have several flywheels stored in the garage, problem is that when I stored them I did not mark what they were off of so I would need to have measurements, I know there has to be more than 1 because I just sold one of the bell housings
ok where it bolts up to the crank there are holes for six bolts that measure three inches across, center hole to center hole. as for the pressure plate bolts there are six bolts total, but they are paired up,with 3 1/2 inches in between the pair, also the clutch disk measures 12 inches in dia. if you have one that matches you can contact me at stricklandnm@hotmail.com so we can make arrangments. thanks
all right well what exactly is the difference between the 351 m and the 400. the casting numbers read as follows D7TE-A-2B on the block. i dont have a flywheel to check the part numbers on
Actually, I just pulled a 351M/400 (that's EXACTLY what it says on the valve cover sticker, and what I've always referred to them as in the past) just a couple days ago.
Anyway - like I said I just pulled a 351M/400, auto tranny, 4x4 out of a '77 truck a couple days ago. I pulled it complete (engine/tranny/transfer all at once) and put it in the bed of another truck. I know the flywheel is there, but if you have a core it's probably cheaper to just get a new one rather than buying one from someone here and paying shipping to you.
Sorry it took so long...finally got a moment to dig out the flywheels...I have 2, both appear to be for an 11" clutch, both are in good condition w/ no visible cracks/chipped/worn teeth, just have surface rust from sitting in the garage for years, I am not sure where to find the part #'s, however the flywheel marked #1 has the marking E279 on it, what does that mean???
hey guys i have a 79 ford w/302 and i have a starter grinding problem i have replaced the starter and flexplate and i am stumped some days when it cranks good inside the housing you can hear there is a lot of pressure on the starter plz help gimme some ideas thanks

That looks like the beginning of 400 to me.
Also the OP needs a manual transmission flywheel, not an auto flexplate.
