Holley 4180 question
I recently purchased a reman Holley 4180 4bbl w/elec choke(stock unit for my 86 f-250 with 460 eng)only to open it and find the choke nipple broken off. I received a replacement and found it has a vacumn tube on the carb body, front passenger side, top, just below carb throat, that is supposed to supply vacumn to the EGR (when this [EGR] doesn't work, I am sure everyone knows what havoc it can create). I contacted Holley and they were gracious and quick to authorize another replacement, however this is getting a little old. My question is this, Holley says this vacumn tube should have vacumn and it should increase with RPM. Mine doesn't. It feels like there might be a little vacumn, but with my head sitting over the fan and the engine screaming, if there is, it is so small I can't really tell. Can anyone tell me if the vacumn should be very noticeable or ever so slight, is this a common problem with rebuilts or not really. Thanks for any help,Joe
